WHO: Justin Coleman

I have the aspiration to teach both deaf and hearing students in the field of theatre by using ASL on stage. I have been deaf since birth and grew up in a hearing home. I have a BA degree in ASL/ English Interpreting with a minor in Theater Art from Western Oregon University and a MA in Theatre Arts from Portland State University. I traveled for a year with the National Theatre for the Deaf presenting programs for both deaf and hearing students. In that capacity I presented acting to different schools in the form of workshops, as well as performed before hundreds of students, teachers, and parents throughout the eastern United States. I have also studied acting at Deaf West Theatre in North Hollywood, California, participated in Northwest Theatre of the Deaf in Portland, Oregon, and I am a Sign Language Consultant at Portland Center Stage Theatre.

There is no need to know American Sign Language.

Voice interpretation will be available for this class.
